City of Moonee Valley

The City of Moonee Valley is located in the north-western suburbs of Melbourne, between 4 and 13 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD. The City of Moonee Valley is bounded by Moreland City in the north-east and east, the City of Melbourne and Maribyrnong City in the south and the City of Brimbank in the west and north-west.

 

The City of Moonee Valley includes the suburbs of Aberfeldie, Airport West, Ascot Vale, Avondale Heights, Essendon, Essendon North, Essendon West, Flemington (part), Keilor East (part), Moonee Ponds, Niddrie, Strathmore, Strathmore Heights and Travancore.

 

Major features of the City include Essendon Airport, Westfield Shoppingtown Airport West, Moonee Valley Racecourse, Kangan Batman TAFE (Essendon Campus), Windy Hill (home of the Essendon Football Club) and various parklands along the Maribyrnong River and Moonee Ponds Creek. The City is served by the Calder Freeway, the Tullamarine Freeway, Citylink, the Craigieburn and Flemington Racecourse railway lines and a number of tramlines.
